InvisibleDo you ever feel invisible?

I do sometimes.

And by sometimes I mean more than sometimes. It’s a real struggle that I have. But the truth is that you aren’t invisible. Neither am I.

Psalm-3v3It’s something that has been said over and over again. You having meaning to God. Yes. Sure. I’ve known that since I was old enough to know who God is. But have you really thought about it? Think about yourself for a moment [for the majority of us, that’s not too difficult to do]. Now, think about this: you will never be invisible to God, your Creator. The same God who created not only David, Moses, and John, but the same God who created the sun and the Earth and the intricately designed workings of your cells. That God notices you each and every second. In fact, He notices you so much that He is chasing after you! How insane is that? The God that is responsible for making the Earth revolve around the sun chases after me. That’s crazy. But it’s true.

Every second of your life, God is chasing after you. He wants you to notice Him. He wants you to love and build a relationship with Him. Right now! Not in five years when you’re ready to settle down. Not when you’ve decided to quit getting drunk every night. Now. I think what most people don’t understand is that God chases us even when we are broken. Especially when we are broken. It’s understandable, of course, with all of the other religions floating around saying things like you have to reach a certain state to achieve whatever and what not. But that’s not the Gospel. God loves you and desires a relationship with us so much that “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” [Romans 5:8]. We didn’t have to achieve perfection in order for God to say “Ok. Now I can send my son down to you to make it all alright again.” Not at all. Not even close.

No matter how broken you are. No matter how big of a mess you think your life is. No matter if you think you’re drowning in darkness, God is reaching out for you. All you have to do is turn towards Him and hold out your hand to Him. The second you do that, you will realize that you are so loved, more deeply than you will ever be able to fathom.

You aren’t invisible. You are seen. You are wanted. And you are loved.

  1. Great article. The struggle lies with us “normal” human beings coming to grips with how tremendous a deal God chasing after us is. He’s the creator, the sustainer, the redeemer of this planet. Without him we’re Kaput! That is just crazy that such a person would chase after us when we’re accustomed to being ignored by others we want to acquaint ourselves with or impress.
